Yamaha Offering New V6 Offshore 'Mechanical' Outboards

Yamaha has expanded its motor offerings yet again, with new 4.2-liter V6 Offshore “mechanical” outboards. The new engines are mechanical control versions of Yamaha’s 225- and 250- horsepower 4.2-liter V6 Offshore outboards. The mechanical F250XB is available in both left and right-hand rotation, and the F225XB is available in right-hand rotation.

“Boaters who need mechanical control can now enjoy all of the legendary 4.2-liter V6 offshore benefits,” says Ben Speciale, Yamaha Marine Group president in a press release. “These outboards are great repower solutions for boats that don’t need digital electronic control, yet can benefit from Yamaha’s light weight, high efficiency 4.2-liter offshore platform.”

The V6 Offshore Mechanical engines are more than 50 pounds lighter than the Yamaha 3.3-liter V6s, and offer better fuel efficiency, as well as low- and mid-range punch. Otherwise, they offer the same features, power and performance inside. Boaters will be able to check out the mechanical motors in late summer.
