The Heritage Museum Welcomes New Exhibitions

New exhibitions featuring historic photos, maps and reproductions in honor of lighthouse heritage are on display at the Heritage Museum & Cultural Center in St. Joseph, Michigan.

An opening reception will take place on June 14 from 5-8 p.m. at the Heritage Museum & Cultural Center. Refreshments will be served, pilot/photographer John L. Wagner will speak and sign copies of his book, and the exhibits will open. A brown bag lunch and artist’s talk will take place on June 15, and free tower climbs will be offered on June 15 and 16.

With free admission to the museum, visitors can see the permanent restored Fresnel lenses from the St. Joseph Lights. Temporary exhibits for 2018 include Michigan Lighthouses: An Aerial Photographic Perspective, featuring photographs of every Michigan lighthouse from pilot John L. Wagner, and Ladies of the Lights: Michigan Women in the U.S. Lighthouse Service, featuring the history of women lighthouse keepers.
