Put-In-Bay Maritime Festival Hosts ONWARD Screening

Matthews Boat enthusiasts and history buffs might be pleased to know that a screening of The Maiden Voyage of ONWARD will be playing on June 18 during the Put-In-Bay Maritime Festival and Matthews Boat Owners Association (MBOA) Rendezvous weekend.

Bob Reynolds, the grandson of Matthews Boat founder, Scott Matthews, and current MBOA member is hosting the event. The screening will take place downtown at Perry’s Monument Visitors Center at 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

The Maiden Voyage of ONWARD is a documentary produced with help from the Maritime Museum of Sandusky. It follows founder Scott Matthews and his family on a 9,000-mile trip on the Great Loop — a first for a private yacht, which Matthews also designed and built himself. The documentary includes narrative based on Scott Matthews own written account and original photos from the trip.

The event is open to the public, but organizers are asking anyone interested in attending to make a reservation beforehand at 330-273-5756.
