Got Any Old Lake Michigan Shoreline Photos? Scientists Want Them!

Researchers at the Michigan Environmental Council, the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and Michigan State University want any old photos of the shores of Lake Michigan that may be sitting in picture frames, photo albums or on SD cards. The scientists will use the photos to study how to conserve sand dunes by comparing them to what the sites — including ones like Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore — look like today.

The pictures should ideally be 25 years or older and labeled with the exact location they were taken. There’s even a prize being offered when the collection time has ended.
