Mysterious Glowing Globs
Strange blobs started appearing at Lake Grapevine in Grapevine, Texas. Gooey globs that attach to everything and continue growing.

Visitors to the lake worried that something was wrong with the environment but city officials say that the blobs are actually a good sign. They clean the water by feeding on microscopic particles.

The slimy creatures are "zooids," sometimes called "bryozoa" or "moss animals," and their presence actually signifies good water quality.

There are 5000 different zooid species but only 50 live in fresh water. They mostly can be found in tropical climates but have been known to spread elsewhere.

Experts say that once the particles they feed on are cleaned up, the zooids will dry up and blow away.
