Nature's Wrath
As the weather continues to fluctuate between icy extremes outside, the eastern shore of Lake Michigan has provided us with the type of fairy tale photo that shows both the beauty and power of winter.

The South Haven lighthouse, built in 1903 and an attraction to visitors from around the world, has turned from a lighthouse and gantry into what appears to be an ice sculpture following weeks of freezing temperatures that have hovered below zero degrees.

The South Haven lighthouse was initially constructed in 1872 and updated in 1903. It is located at the entrance to the Black River and is still operational.

Built in a bid to keep access to the lighthouse open even when the lower deck became iced over, the higher level gantry was not spared nature's icy wrath.
