Superyacht On the Market
Second in length to only the 295'3"Athena, the square rigger Maltese Falcon is up for sale for only $180,734,000.

Of course, at a price that steep must mean you'll be getting an award winning vessel. The Maltese Falcon won the 2007 Showboats international awards for highest technical achievement in a sailing yacht, best sailing yacht interior, best sailing yacht over 40' and most innovative sailing yacht. It also took the 2007 Boat International World SuperYacht Awards for sailing yacht of the year, best sailing yacht 45 meters and above and best sailing yacht interior among a slew of other awards.

Buyers, as well as receiving a sail boat that the neighbors are sure to talk about, will also get 14 works of original art in the deal, including photos, paintings and sculptures.

When not enjoying their new art, the new owner can sneak away from the main salon to the dining room, wine cellar, card room master suite. The master suite features two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a Jacuzzi tub, as well as a sitting area.

There are three masts on the ship, each with five five square sails that can unfurl in six minutes. The mast themselves, free-standing and made of carbon fiber, rotate. A computer tracks and detects wind speed automatically and displays key data. The computer does not pilot the yacht but it is possible for a single person to pilot it, provided they remember such important things as the vessel's almost 20 foot draft and 42 foot beam as they enter a harbor.

If the winds are not sufficient when on the water, two 1800 horsepower Deutz engines with a tops peed of 20 knots can push Maltese Falcon along.

A permanent crew of 18 maintains technical aspects, including operating the onboard living quarters which can accommodate twelve guests plus four guest staff. There is also an onboard gourmet chef and stewards and stewardesses.
