Four-year-old Miler
Swimming one mile is a pretty good accomplishment. Swimming one mile when you're four years old is even more impressive. Four year old Maddison Brown, who accomplished that feat in 100 minutes, goes one further: Besides being the youngest swimmer in England to swim the mile, she's been swimming for less than a year.

"Quite proud," is how Maddison modestly describes her feelings about the swim to the Daily Mail. Her favorite thing about the swim, she says, was that it was fun.

"From what I've been told," her mother Helen told the Daily Mail, "this is quite unusual. It takes a lot both physically and mentally - a four-year-old can easily lose interest going up and down the pool 100 times.

"Maddison only learned to swim in July last year," Helen continued. "Then suddenl in a short amount of time she did quite a lot.

"She just really to to it as soon as she got in the water.

"It will be fantastic if she keeps at it and continues to make progress."

"Very few four-year-olds could have done this," Maddison's swimming teacher Jane Tomlinson said. "She has naturally very good coordination and that helps.

"There are three things you need to be a good swimmer: talent, a parent who is prepared to take you to lessons and, most importantly, the child has to want to do it."

For her part, Maddison seems to want to succeed even more. Her new goals are to improve her water skills and learn new strokes.
