Final Fling was flung finally from the seas as golfers on the course at Loch Lomond, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, one of the most prestigious golf courses in Scotland, were terrified to find out.
Out of control, the speedboat Final Fling hurtled through the air and thudded down in a bunker on a golf course after careering through the waters after hitting rocks. The skipper of Final Fling managed to jump into the water after waves sent the boat off course and, eventually, onto the course. No one, including the skipper, was injured.
"The boat seemed to go in slow motion and came to a halt in the bunker," French tourist Claude Bieth told the Daily Mail. "The motor kept going but it was stuck fast."
A military helicopter quickly arrived on the scene and a lifeboat was launched. A request for help was issued to all ships in the vicinity.
"We do deal with a number of beached vessels," Calum Murray, Clyde Coastguard's watch manager, told the Daily Mail, "but I don't think that we have ever had one which landed in a golf course bunker."
