Michigan Lighthouses Transformed by Icy Weather
The recent stint of arctic weather plaguing the Great Lakes has transformed some of Michigan's most iconic lighthouses into ice sculptures that look like computer-generated scenes from a Hollywood blockbuster.
This photograph of a lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan, was captured by photographer Thomas Zakowski.
"Depending on the year, the lighthouses can remain frozen for over a month, but it all depends on the weather," Zakowsik was quoted as saying in The Daily Mail online, www.dailymail.co.uk.
Sub-zero temperatures throughout the Great Lakes continue through today and are expected to ease slightly tomorrow.
