Industry Mourns loss of ABM Founder Bob Cox
Robert “Bob” O. Cox, founder of the world-famous Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, New York, recently passed away at the age of 95.
As a founding member of the Antique Boat Auxiliary of the Thousand Islands Museum in 1967, Cox helped capture the history of boating throughout the region. He played a pivotal role as the Auxiliary transitioned into the Thousand Islands Shipyard Museum, and then in 1990 when it was renamed the Antique Boat Museum (ABM).
“The ABM lost a true mentor, benefactor and an influential friend of the museum and the Thousand Islands,” says Frederick H. Hager, ABM executive director. “The knowledge Bob shared with the ABM extends far beyond the Thousand Islands.”
