Explore 10,000 Years of Michigan History

03-Jun-2015

History comes to life at the new Michigan's Heritage Park exhibit at Muskegon's Lakeshore Museum Center, opening on June 6! The 19-ace living history park explores 10,000 years of Michigan history in a natural woodland setting in Whitehall.

Experience daily life in a Native American Wigwam Village. Interact with a fur trader stocking his shelves in the Fur Trade Post where you can participate in the trade. In the Settlers Cabin, learn about the life of early settlers and help with daily chores. Visit with Civil War Soldiers in their winter camp and hear about the dangers in camp. Stretch out on a bunk in the Lumber Shanty and learn what “small game in the camp” means. Find out what it took to put dinner on the table in the Farmhouse and learn what the Civilian Conservation Corps did in Michigan.

Michigan’s Heritage Park will be open Thursday through Monday. Admission for adults and teens is $10, seniors (65 and older) $8, and youth (2 – 12) $5.
